What information do I need to provide in order for you to correctly size a cooling tower?
The flow rate, inlet and outlet temperatures, water quality and location. Log onto our online calculator to see which towers will suit your requirements.

Why do you need to know where the site is?
To know where to deliver the tower (if not ex-works), access requirements (if IWC is doing the installation), and what is available to install the tower (If IWC is installing the tower). The location is also critical to size the tower where the wet bulb temperature and elevation is not provided.

What role does water quality play?
The fill needs to be selected according to the water quality. It can easily get clogged/grow bacteria if the water quality is poor, and the incorrect fill is selected.

What role does environmental conditions i.e., temperature and humidity play and how do they impact on the cooling tower’s performance?
The tower size is based on the environmental conditions.

Why is my tower underperforming?
The internals might be clogged or damaged. There is build-up. The weather is affecting the cooling process.

Are spares for new cooling towers readily available?
Yes – Standard spares which include nozzle kits, drift eliminators, fill, louvre inserts, impellers, fan motors etc. have a lead time of 1 -3 day ex-works.
Non-standard spares which include larger fan motor assemblies have longer lead time since this is not kept in stock.

Do you trade in old towers?

Do you sell second/hand refurbished towers?
No, but we can refurbish/replace the tower.

Does the cooling tower come complete with a motor?
Yes

Does the cooling tower use water/ lose water?
Minimal water loss as a result of evaporation.

Is VAT payable on cooling towers being sent across border?
Yes, if customer collects. No, if we deliver.

Spares

How do I know when my tower needs a service?
When the tower is not cooling as efficiently, if parts are broken, leaking or internals are clogged, if the mechanicals are not working. Please check our website for condition monitoring guideline

Do you do service the cooling tower as well as supply the spares?
The towers can be serviced, and spares are supplied.

How often do I need to service my cooling tower?
The tower should be serviced every year to maintain good efficiency and operation.

Can I service the cooling tower myself?
Yes, you can do an inspection of internals, the fan motor assembly and the fibreglass. The internal spares can be cleaned or replaced by removing the fan motor assembly and climbing in the tower. Test the motor. Clean the basin. Check the inlets and outlets.

The type of cooling tower, the type of item, the quantity alternatively a job number.
