Turning Desks into Dreams: IWC and Eskom Unite to Brighten Futures at Vukanini Primary School
We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news from IWC and Eskom. Together, we’ve joined forces to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners at Vukanini Primary School in Bethel, Mpumalanga. As part of our commitment to corporate social investment through the Eskom Kusile project, we’ve delivered school furniture valued at over R700,000. This includes 200 learners desks, science lab chairs, teacher desks, bookshelves for Grade R, as well as furniture for the staff room. It’s a demonstration of our dedication to bringing positive change to the lives of learners, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds in the community surrounding the Kriel Power Station.
The handover ceremony held on 26 October, was attended by @Christine Storey, IWC’s Marketing & Communications Manager, Faith Nkosi, IWC HR Officer, as well as Prajith Sewgobin and Precious Magatsela from Eskom. Following the formalities, the students at Vukanini Primary School treated us to dance performances, showcasing their extraordinary talents and creativity. The warm reception underscored the deep gratitude felt by the community towards this initiative.
This endeavour is not merely about making a one-time impact; it reflects our broader commitment to creating a lasting legacy. Witnessing the happiness and gratitude of the children serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of our work, reinforcing our dedication to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
Another noteworthy aspect of our efforts was the extension of support to surrounding schools—Merlin Park Primary School, Impilo Primary School, and Sbongamandla Primary School — all located in the Kriel area. Through donations of sanitary towels for girls, we have further demonstrated our commitment to enhancing the well-being of students beyond Vukanini Primary School.
