Spotlight on Kamo Moloi

Meet Kamo Moloi, project manager for IWC. As the project manager in charge of the entire Sasol Secunda project, Kamo has a lot on his plate. Together with his team, he recently completed the refurbishment of Tower B on the eastern side of the plant, and they are now busy with the refurbishment of Tower A.

As a project manager, managing resources, schedules and costs are par for the course but collaboration with clients is key. “It’s important for clients to understand that the relationship is not merely contractual, but one which requires a collaborative effort in order to deliver projects successfully.” Says Kamo

“In our environment, our client expect full support and agility. The work is fast paced, so we need to be hyper alert to identify any possible obstacles, and resolve issues as they arise.” Explains Kamo.

While working for a large SMEIP contractor, Kamo got his first introduction to Sasol. He later went to work for Sasol Group Technology. He has worked in the Petrochemical Industry as well as Power/Energy industry for many years and has been fortunate enough to work on mega-projects. After a brief stint working in Saudi Arabia, Kamo joined the IWC family and the rest is history.

“IWC is a more like a family and if there are challenges, we feel comfortable enough to share. The support from colleagues and senior management is great, they often offer wise counsel, as well as share knowledge, experiences and offer different perspectives. The culture is definitely one where peoples’ perspectives are encouraged and respected. We are humans, and ultimately we will always have our own way of doing things.” expresses Kamo.

When asked what his favorite quote was, he replied – “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast!” This totally makes sense considering Kamo spends most weekends watching Formula One racing. “I am a Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport fan and I admire Toto Wolf in terms of how he has taken the team to higher levels.” Kamo also loves to watch other sports and spend time with his partner and brothers when he isn’t working.

It’s no surprise that Kamo’s list of favourite books include How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, the 5AM Clubby Robin Sharma and Screw It, Let’s Do It by Richard Branson. He is also keen on TED Talks which feature anything related to leadership, high performance teams.
